When my children were young, we spent a lot of time at the playground, and one of their favorite things was the merry-go-round. You don’t see merry-go-rounds anymore, but they were a playground staple years ago that provided my children great joy. Granted, these contraptions are likely quite dangerous and children growing up today are probably much safer without them, but my kids loved them.

Each summer my family spends one week at a lake house on the outskirts of Tulsa, Oklahoma. By “outskirts,” I mean that the local grocery store is the Dollar General. Starbucks? Forget about it.
