It was an exciting day. My friend, who had just produced her first motion picture, had planned a big premiere at her home church and Charles (my husband) and I were invited to come. On the way to the church, I glanced at my watch and surmised that I still had just enough time to dash into a store to buy my friend a gift - maybe a bouquet of flowers to celebrate her accomplishments.

Have you met the Proverbs 31 woman? Her description has always evoked feelings of awe and annoyance. Sewing late into the night by a lamp that does go out, gorgeous toned arms planting a vineyard, a prominent husband, self-designed purple clothes and children that get up in the morning and praise her? All of that sounds like an unattainable biblical ideal.

The rain is beating down on my roof. Water pouring down from heaven on a dry and thirsty ground. Spending some much needed time in God’s presence today felt like rain on my thirsty soul.

I’m writing this note from outside Houston, Texas, this morning, thinking about the time we’ll have together on Saturday, October 26. It’s less than two weeks away!

What kind of glasses are you wearing? Have you ever experienced a movie wearing 3-D glasses? How those crazy plastic glasses make such a visual and experiential difference, I will never know. But they do!

My website tagline is passing along God’s love & healing, one woman at a time. I did not graduate from college thinking to myself, man, I sure hope my life is crazy-hard so I can eventually reach out to women who are hurting.

It is evening on the sea of Galilee. It is still and quiet, except for maybe the hushed, night-time voices of other sailors traveling through the night. The sky is dark and so is the water, reflecting the moon and the light of an old, star-filled sky. One that the likes of us have probably never seen.

It seems a contradiction of terms. I’d prefer to be on the mountaintop of blessing. But the valley seems where God most often makes me aware of His blessings. Recently my valley looked like this: my 12 year old daughter’s hair falling out. It started two weeks ago and hasn’t let up yet. She now wears a hat to school and received a diagnosis of alopecia from a dermatologist. Basically, her immune system is attacking her hair.
