Embracing "Embraced by God"

Embracing "Embraced by God" by Donna Douglas Walchle. I have taken many Bible studies in my time, but none that compare to the personal depth, richness and life-changing insights of Embraced by God, written by my longtime friend, sista and co-writer in song, Babbie Mason.

Hungry for the Light by Britney Baer Living through a Seattle winter has taught me a few things about sunshine. While it isn’t miserably cold or harsh—and can be beautiful in its own way—it’s just not sunny. It is gray, mild and wet…pretty much every day for months.
The Good News of Good Friday

The Good News of Good Friday

The Good News of Good Friday For a long time, before I really understood my faith, I thought it strange that we call Good Friday good, when we know it leads to Jesus' incredible suffering and the ultimate sacrifice. Some Christian traditions do recognize this day as something other than “good.” In German, for example, the day is called Karfreitag, or “Sorrowful Friday.” There are also some who believe “Good Friday” actually developed from an older name, “God’s Friday.” Regardless of what we call that fateful day, as Christians we know that Jesus' death on the cross, the most momentous event in history, earned us forgiveness and life eternal. Indeed, that is good news!

To the Cross by Joni Taylor “Who do you say that I am?” Jesus’ question to his disciples and to us is the same, “Who do you say that I am?” It is one of the most important questions we will ever have to answer. Peter responded: “You are the Christ.”

An Interview with Author Melissa Spoelstra Melissa is the author of “Jeremiah: Daring to Hope in an Unstable World,” an Abingdon Women Bible study slated for release this summer. I recently had the distinct pleasure of interviewing our newest author and learning about her personal history and faith, her sources of inspiration, and that which has challenged her along the way. This is the first in a multi-part interview that we'll share over the months leading up to the book's publication:

If your faith discipline doesn't celebrate this pre-Easter Christian season, I encourage you to refer to MaryJane Pierce Norton's brief introduction in her 2014 Family Study for Lent.

You Have A Birthright by Jessica LaGrone We can learn a lot at an early age from our interaction with our siblings, can’t we? Growing up I knew that the kids who had older siblings knew the cool way to dress and the cool music to listen to before anybody else.
